The Olympics: Yay or Nay?

Like nearly every other American out there, I've been glued to the TV for the last few days whenever I get the chance to watch the Olympic games. China is kicking our red, white and blue behinds at just about everything. Granted, its on their home turf, so they have the ideal of pride going on, but I don't think thats the only thing that separates us. Their culture has such an extreme work ethic for success, that there is no room for failure. Academically, if they don't excel, they bring shame to their family. The same thing must apply to the Olympics, but to a larger degree... if they fail, they bring disgrace to their country. Not that the rest of the world sees it like that, because most of us watching don't have that work ethic.
Also, just a note, some of the most unhealthy products on the market are the biggest sponsors of the Olympics. It makes me laugh to consider little tiny gymnasts actually eating the chicken sandwich that has been so over-advertised, as well as drinking beer and Coke. It just seems so unrealistic... The Olympics, being that it is generating so much income, should sponsor some sort of commercial about something thats actually true and that will actually help the world. GiveRice.com would be an excellent option. Its UN sponsored, so it is legit, and its actually pretty entertaining as well.
Thats all for now. Check back soon!
